January’s Fashion Budget

Last week I mentioned that one of my resolutions was to pull in my shopping reins for 2013 and BUDGET for any of my purchases. With all the sales after boxing day it’s really tempting but I wanted to put more thought into my fashion and save money that could be used for other things, for example I really want to invest in some household items (yes I live in the stone age and am just realizing I want a slow cooker).

So my first step was to categorize my closet of items that still fit, things I still liked to wear and what I could add in to maximize it’s full potential. The first requirement on the list was colour. I have a wardrobe with a very neutral palette. I needed to mix it up with a bit of colour and so I found some great shirts on sale that will transition right into spring and summer. I also love all the patterned pants and jeans that we’re seeing out there, so I picked up a pair of floral pants that are neutral enough to be versatile with a pop of pattern.

And with these new additions I shopped my closet and came up with the following outfit ideas for my budgeted items.

And the great thing is there are so many other options and the brights are giving me a boost from my winter doldrums. Now I can add that slow cooker to my repertoire, and try out that brisket recipe once and for all 🙂
