Lest We Forget

11.11.11~ Rememberance Day, Veterans Day… regardless of what it’s called I’m requesting we all stop and take a moment of silence to consider the brave and courageous people who have fought on our behalf for the freedoms we so enjoy and can take for granted in this present day.

For my family it started in WWI with my great-grandfather fighting for Canadian Forces at Vimy Ridge, he lay shot in the trench for more than a day before he was rescued. Thinking about this scenario I can’t image laying in a mud filled, blood soaked trench with bullets whizzing by my head after having signed myself up for the battle.  I truly appreciate the lengths any of the armed forces has or is enduring to make our lifestyle stable. While for most people this is a day off, I just hope for the generations to come the reason for why the family gets to take a long weekend at the cabin or have a get-together isn’t taken for granted or forgotten.
