Ocean Salt Scrub | Mint Julips Lip Scrub | Rose Lollipop Lip Balm

For any who have followed the blog for awhile, you’ll know I’m pretty particular about what I put on my sensitive skin. It’s always been a battle for me to control breakouts and reactions which can be really difficult when you have environmental and internal factors such as stress and what you consume also playing a role in overall skin health. So I’ve steered to more natural, organic or vegan lines which seem to have natural or safer synthetic preservatives, and the results have been consistently happier skin- which in my mind also equates to healthier skin…

A little while back Lush Handmade Cosmetics reached out to me to see if I would put some of their product line to the test. So over the last month, I’ve tried bath bombs, scrubs, lotions and balms to see if it could make the sensitive skin cut and I can happy report Lush really lives up to the standard and name they’ve built for themselves.

First off, the packaging is minimal and modern, it’s all recyclable and you can take your jars back to the store for a refill once you’re done. The bath bombs are HUGE, and although quite fragrant when you first take them out of the bag or buy them in the store, by the time they are in the bath it adjusts to a really mellow aromatherapy session. But the amazing part is no one bath bomb is created the same, some are fizzy releasing essential oils as they dissolve, others slowly release flower petals for a relaxing soak.

And since our weather has swung from one spectrum to another this month, the face and body ocean scrub was a great combo with the Sympathy for the Skin Lotion, which smells like a delicious vanilla custard. Perfect for anyone taking off on spring break and needing to prep skin before a quick spray tan session.

But probably my favourite ritual and product that I’ve never taken the time to consider before was the Lip Scrub followed by the Rose Lollipop lip balm. Every winter I have cracked, dry lips that I’m trying to save with the multiple tubes of Blistex or whatever lip chap I have in every corner of the house, office and even vehicle. I always feel like I go through the transition similar to that of a moulting snake. In a nutshell, not sexy at all… But with the Mint Julips scrub, you dab it on, it dissolves and you pretty much can eat it because it tastes amazing! Your lips are left exfoliated and moisturized for a good part of the day. I also started putting on the lip balm at night to wake up to a perfect pout and it’s so much easier to apply lipstick.

Overall, at first I was skeptical as usual about trying some new products without them wreaking havoc on my skin, but I was very pleasantly surprised at the quality and results of using them this last month. It doesn’t hurt either that Lush Cosmetics puts a lot of care and time into how their products are made, tested and packaged. I’m pretty sure I could become a bath bomb junkie- I’ve already got my eye on the Golden Egg– exclusive easter products they’ve just launched today, you might want to check them out as well!

Thanks to Lush Cosmetics for letting my “test drive” all these fun products and as always my opinions are my own.

Great article and so relevant right now. I am 50+ and have started to look at my skin care and thinking that maybe its time to ditch the chemicals and go more natural with my products. But there are so many – what do you choose. And prices! I don’t want to break the bank either. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these products, I will be sure to stop by the closest Lush store for more info.
And as always, love your articles 🙂
