Meet the Tasmin Fringe

For months I have been on the lookout for a multifunctional fringe purse. To say I’m particular is an understatement as I must have looked at dozens of various fringe style purses that just didn’t have the look and size I was going for. So I decided maybe I should create my own?  To do this I enlisted the help of Shannon Clay purse designer extraordinaire and owner of Heart n’ Soul Handbags.

I decided to sketch out a concept one day at work (did I mention I love my job) and sent it to Shannon to get her input,

Tasmin Fringe 2

I was looking for a cross-body that could be converted into a clutch, with a feel of “Stampede meets Coachella”, my vision was a mix of vintage western meets bohemia fringe. So after going back and forth on some ideas and structural restrictions, Shannon sent me a few more options (all of which were amazing), but I chose this as I felt it best represented what I was looking for.

And so Shannon got to work and sent me a few hints along the way….

And becasue we have a tendancy to name everything at C&C headquarters, the coffemaker, printer- even the “interns” bike, I felt the bag had to have a name. One of my favourite authors, Larry McMurtry wrote the Berrybender Narratives, one of the lead characters, Tasmin is a wild young woman full or grit, beauty and determination. And so I decided on the Tasmin Fringe.

And I’d like you to meet her:

Prairie chic. Rustic. Western. Festival. Organic inspired.  Floral Concho. Leather. Metal. Feathers. Fringe!!!
