Solo Flight

I wake up at 5:30 in the morning, the only problem is it’s a Saturday. As I look at the blustery skies and the listen to the weatherman’s accusations that “more snow and deep freeze temperatures are on it’s way” I realize I don’t think the city is the place to be this weekend. With the boys off on a snowmobiling adventure and most of my girlfriends busy with prior engagements or work, I decide a drive out of town might be necessary. However this time will be different- most of my driving (and I do a lot of it), serves the core purpose of getting somewhere.. quickly. But this time will be my music, coffee in hand- stopping at things I find interesting that I would mostly likely never consider on a normal day.

Locked, loaded and ready to hit the road

I decided the destination- Invermere.  The road through the park was beautiful, the landscape awesome under the blue skies and I had to stop once or twice to take some photos.

One of the stops- enjoying the look out point

Through the brilliance of technology on my IPhone I book a manicure and pedicure at All Dolled Up– a boutique nail bar in Invermere that has been open for about a month. The staff are friendly and fun and I was in heaven with my ice-cream pedicure with marshmallow lotion and Gelicure Polish which is great for a girl who is nail polish challenged.  After a stop at the local wine shoppe, I pick up a white (Riesling-Gewurztraminer) and red (Shiraz Malbec) both by Trove Winery.  With the fire lit at the cabin and a glass of wine with my new nails, it feels like I have had a mini-escape from the deep freeze in the concrete jungle.
