California Moonrise Dress | Hat- Vintage Smithbilt | Turquoise Feather Necklace

Growing up I was obsessed with Little House on the Prairie, I remember the day I was given the box set of books, forget dressing up and playing princesses, I wanted to be a pioneer. So I seem to have a natural affinity to big, tiered floral maxi such as this one. It’s my modern day nod to Laura Ingalls. As a grown-up nothing has changed. I like old things, history and knowing what came before us. Futuristic stuff just doesn’t appeal to me, which is why my old soul is probably happiest in this big dress and vintage hat staring at the mountains.

And speaking of the hat I found it at Smithbilt during their moving sale. For anyone who doesn’t know Smithbilt– they are local to Calgary and have been making hats since 1919 and are the Official White Cowboy Hat. They have a gorgeous new facility in Inglewood, I highly recommend stopping in if you have time to peruse their gorgeous hats.

And since it’s almost June, we are getting ready for the Calgary Stampede. Which means outfit planning is already in the works and we’ll be sharing some new west, stampede fashion from our best makers and boutiques soon in our Stampede style guide so stay tuned!
