One of my favourite places in a home is an outdoor space like a backyard, porch or deck. With the short summers we have in Alberta, I love to make the most of it and no matter how big the space, encorporate that outdoor living into the house for as long as it is possible. This year I’ve encorporated some bright color statements into my deck decor; turquoise, yellow, greens and golds, which the yellow was a very welcome suggestion from the home decor genius Suzie of Urban Country Style. Toss in some rustic elements (even my watering can has a wood motif) and painted mason jars (the cheapest outdoor vases ever!) and you have my summertime backyard hangout.

No I’ll leave it at genius, I kept layering in the turquoise and the yellow was exactly what it needed to make it feel whole.
