Every family has holiday traditions that they cherish. One of mine includes exchanging a new ornament between family members every year. As the years go by it’s so much fun to open up the treasure chest and reminisce as you decorate the tree. Another is all the baking and cooking. Traditional food you’ll find on our table at Christmas beyond the turkey and eggnog include; cabbage rolls, Petahe (perogies) and of course the Hello Dollies.
My grandmother used to love to entertain and it’s one of the things I remember the most at Christmas. A classic, decadent dessert bar; Hello Dollies has long been a family favourite and when I start to bake it, the unofficial flag of Christmas goes up in our house. Not only is it rich and amazing, it may be the easiest thing to make. Just layer graham cracker crumbs with coconut, chocolate chips, pecans or almonds then add condensed milk that holds everything together in a caramelized heaven once baked. You can find a recipe I like here. If this isn’t already a family favourite then you must try it, just don’t blame me for derailing your fitness plans!
Oh this makes me want to bake AND that’s a lot coming from a domestic goddess in training. Thanks for sharing Brandy! Merry Christmas
It is an addicting recipe! Merry Christmas to you too!
I’ve already made and we have eaten my first batch!
Better pace yourself, Christmas is still a ways off….
OMG I am going to make these today for sure! I saw the name “Hello Dollies” and I though of an exersice I did almost eveyday in the military LMAO but this is kinda the opposite! SO I can eat some Hello Dollies then proseed to workout doing some Hello Dollies 🙂 HAHA Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
