Over the last year with my time in the woods and streams, I’ve been building a gear “wish list” that I think would make outdoor life a lot more comfortable and functional.
Dear Santa, this huntress needs a new knife. My last one was confiscated in airport security, I forgot it was in my carry-on 🙁 . So this season I have been beg, borrow and stealing knives when needed. You forget how essential they are when you’re in the field until you don’t have one at your disposal. A few people have recommended these Bark River Knives to me. They have a large selection depending on what you’re looking for and the quality is top-notch.
When I first started fly fishing, I went to Bass Pro and bought the cheapest pair of wading boots figuring they would maybe get used once a year. After many uses and hiking around some mountain streams in ill-fitting boots, I’m thinking it might be time to upgrade to some that are designed for ladies in mind. I don’t doubt the quality of these Simms Ladies Headwater Boots, and I know they would last me for years.
Sometimes it’s the little things that make all the difference like these roll-top dry bags from Kuiu gear. It seems like whatever outdoor pursuit I’m doing, it’s a constant quest to keep things dry. I have a system of garbage and ziploc bags that I’ve been using but I think the roll top dry bags that come in varying sizes would work great in the jet boat as well as on a 3 week backpacking hunt. I know I really would have liked them for all my camera gear up in the Northwest Territories this year.
You can NEVER have enough jackets in my opinion. I always need layers and since I love my Prois Sherpa Beanie so much, this Sherpa fleece would be perfect for spring and fall hiking and layering in the stand. Prois also has other great layering systems and jackets and I find the fit great and the materials are tough enough for multiple outdoor adventures.
For most of the fall and winter, I lug my bow back and forth to the truck and head out hunting or to the range. A clunky bow case might be needed for travel, but I really like the functionality and look of these Game Plan Gear Bow Cases. It has all the pockets and proper cushion for your bow and any other hunting gear and is light weight to pack around.
Every Christmas I ask for a new pair of gloves, they either get destroyed in the hunting season, or I lose one (I have a lot of orphaned gloves). But that being said, it’s hard to find a warm outdoor glove for ladies, which is why when I saw these Under Armour ones I put them on my wish list. But if anyone has some other suggestions please let me know.

I am really enjoying your Christmas lists. I have written my list that I feel are things I need or want for the coming year. I am planning on writing another for my “big ticket” wish list.
We have SKB airplane bow cases, and they rock.
As far as gloves, I just use my handwarmer muff & no gloves. However I’m not in Canada either. The KUIU guide gloves I won off your blog are awesome dexterity wise, not very insulated though. The North Face makes Tech Gloves where you can use your iPhone while wearing them!
I’ll have to check out those bow cases. I’ve tried a light pair of gloves this year with the handwarmer muff, but unfortunately at our temps in November, you need a glove on or else you get frostbite!
