Accessory Crush of the Week~ Designs by Shelagh

I love western inspired jewellery, from the colors of the gemstones to the intricate leather tooling and silversmith work. I also believe western ladies are some of the most well clad sportsman I have ever seen. Forget Serena Williams, try jumping on a horse and riding full tilt all the while being decked out in chunky turquoise, indian pearls or just a whole lot of silver and bling!

I came across Shelagh Blatz’s designs when I was looking for a birthday present for G2. As it turns out I purchased a great pair of Buffalo Nickel cufflinks for him and fell in love with the rest of Designs by Shelagh.  Shelagh’s work epitomizes western jewellery while being fashion forward.  Her handcrafted designs are unique, one of a kind pieces that you will want to keep for a lifetime and I love the subtle touches added, like a cut out horseshoe on the backside of earrings. I am always drawn to the stunning turquoise statement pieces like the bold Buckstitch Necklace or the gorgeous wide cuff, but also love the subtle and classy Lucky Seven set that you can wear with anything. You can also have the Lucky Seven custom-made into family rings, promise rings or wedding bands through custom request. G2 loved the cufflinks so much that after hearing DBS took custom orders he has been busy preparing additional cufflinks and men’s necklace ideas to present to Shelagh once he gets out of his tree-stand (I’ve created an accessories monster!)

When she’s not busy on the family ranch raising four kids and managing a business, Shelagh has been working on men’s design’s such as the cufflinks or the unisex hand-engraved feathers shown below. So what does the future hold for DBS creations? The photo below is a clue and the hint is “feathers”, a beautiful mix of texture with silver, copper and gemstones! I can hardly wait to see them.
