I am realizing that glitterizing objects may create the world’s easiest DIY projects. However I’m ok with that, and am finding that the acceptance of sparkle and sequins this season is letting my inner diva passion for it come out. So here I present the world’s easiest DIY. It’s quick and simple and extremely satisfying once you have it complete.
Glitter Candle Holders
You will need:
- Mason Jars (Use varying sizes if you wish)
- Glitter Spray, (I used Silver, but it comes in a variety of colours. Make sure it says it works for glass!)
- Blow Dryer
- Epsom Salts
- Tea Lights or White Candles
I’m suggesting to use the glitter spray and a blow dryer as it gives more of an even distribution on the glass without giving an opaque look. I sprayed a coat and then would blow-dry that side until tacky and then spray the other side down. I continued to apply about 3 coats total to the jar.
Allow a couple of hours for the spray to dry and then add about 1 inch epsom salts to the jar before you add your candle. It adds sparkle with the candle light and looks like snow!
And then enjoy the soft sparkly glow from your new creation. I’m finding it a subtle addition to my Christmas vignette on the mantle. And there you have the world’s easiest DIY!
I am trying to do this but I’ve come across a problem… When I spray the jar with glitter, it rubs off? Is it because it isn’t dry? I let it air dry over night and have also tried the hair dryer…. The glitter says it works on glass…. Just wondering if you had any solutions.
Are you only spraying the inside of the jar? I left the outside to avoid mess when moving it around, but just spraying the inside of the jar should produce enough sparkle. You may have to do about 3-4 coats though….
