EPCOT or “Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow” is an acronym of a utopian future city planned by Disney back in the 70’s. Disney’s original vision of EPCOT was for a model community, home to twenty thousand residents, which would be a test bed for city planning and organization. However the funding fell through and the vision was never realized. So instead it opened in 1982 as a theme park focusing on culture and scientific innovation.
Today I got to experience the EPCOT of today. I tried the test track which replicates the same testing GMC completes on their vehicles, trained to be an astronaut in a simulator and managed to get up to a few G’s. Some 3-D movies and then a walk through the Pavilions of China, Norway, Canada, Morocco, England, France, Italy and Germany.
Also after walking around the theme parks for two days in a row, I realized instead of the “People of Walmart”, there should be “People of Disney World”. We got some humorous pics but I couldn’t help posting the “Bride and Groom” Mickey Hats that this one couple was trotting around wearing, ah utopia….
