I’ve mentioned before out of all the girly girl things I fixate on, it’s hair. I’ve cut, dyed and styled mine through-out the years many ways, but I always seem to come back to my favourite. The big volume blowout or curls. I’ve learned that having the right products and tools makes all the difference in the ability to style and have your style hold throughout the day.
So the first step to big bouncy hair (keep in mind I have lots of hair but it’s really fine) is product:
I have to say I subscribe to the House of Bumble. I truly love all Bumble and Bumble products as they can be tailored to your specific hair type. They are the hair masters in my opinion and it shows in each of their product lines. For me personally after I wash and condition my hair (using their Shine line), I put a dime sized amount of their quenching complex for a leave in conditioner. I find my hair is much easier to style if it’s hydrated properly, plus it helps protect your hair from damage caused by the styling tools. You could also try their Prep product, which helps during styling while the quenching does not.
From there I spray in a Thickening Hairspray on my damp hair and the roots before blow drying with a round brush. For extra texture and a bit of an “undone” tousled look I sometimes also add in a texture creme when my hair is damp prior to blow drying.
I usually will dry my hair with a blow dryer and a big ceramic round brush before I start with either the hot rollers or ceramic barrel curling iron.
How do I choose which one you ask? It’s simply a function of time. I’ll put the hot rollers in for 10 minutes, if I’m in a rush to get out the door I separate my hair into 4 sections and use the big curling iron to curl the bottom 2/3 of my hair. Since I have long, fine hair I leave the crown alone to keep as much volume as possible.
I then take a drop of the Bumble and Bumble hairdressers invisible oil (because this stuff is a precious as gold) and smooth over my hair to add shine and reduce flyaways. If you are going to improve your hair heath and make one splurge I would recommend this product. It’s like Morocan Oil on crack.
Lock it in with a volumizing hair spray and you are good to hit the streets with your sexy do!
