The count-down is on! We’re less than two weeks away from the 2015 Calgary Stampede. As is tradition, the city is getting ready decorating the town with western memorabilia for the annual two week event. I’m excited we have visitors coming this year, some experiencing Stampede for the first time which has made me think of a list of must-do’s if you are coming to Calgary to checkout Stampede:
- Parade Day– If you are in town at the start of Stampede, journey down to the parade route (get there early if you want a seat) and watch the beautiful floats, marching bands and riders for a few hours.
- Visit the Western Oasis– Quietly tucked into Stampede grounds you’ll find the western oasis, a huge showcase of artists and musicians with a fantastic wine bar.
- Rodeo- Chucks and Grandstand Show, need I say more it’s quintessential Stampede!
- Take in the Agricultural Showcases or Competitions– Check the schedule daily, Sheep Shearing, Vintage Tractor Pulls, the list goes on!
- Midway Food- Every year the Stampede has some of the craziest foods on the Midway, try a Lobster Corn Dog, Cockroach Pizza or Mini Donut Pop this year.
And of course there is the fashion! The chance to get those cowboy boots out. I’m always a fan of the boots with shorts or dresses look, however when pairing with causal denim my rule is short on the bottom, long on the top. This beautifully embroidered and tasseled Festival top gives an updated boho feel to my shorts and boots, perfect for a day of wandering around the grounds and taking in a concert after and the small fringe and dreamweaver bag is the perfect size for all essential items so you don’t have a bulky tote trying to weave through the crowds or go two-stepping!
