Sometimes it’s easy to forget what’s in your backyard. We all dream of doing activities in exotic locations at infamous spots. This weekend we decided a hike was in order at the Cross Conservation Area. It’s literally five minutes from the house and has over 4800 acres of natural area for day use. The Cross family was one of the Calgary Stampede’s “Big Four” and they donated the land to protect the natural habitat and wildlife.
There are a series of maintained trails ranging from 3 to 15 km in length in rolling foothills. The city and mountain views are superb and trails ever so peaceful as there is virtually no one there. In fact I’m hesitant to blog and promote this little gem. However it is a recommended outing if you have a spare afternoon.
