Since I’m turning the big 3-5 this year, I’ve wanted to take more of a pro-active role in my skin care. Previously posting on my sensitive skin, this can prove tricky in trying out some of the new resurfacing masks, peels and scrubs that are out there. About this time of year, the dry cold weather in Calgary can subject your skin to a real beating. Combine with the holidays and lots of indulgent calories, my skin was looking like it needed a bit of a boost and a detox.
For sensitive skin, I’ve used Pacifica’s Sea Foam face wash for ages and love the gentle cleanse and coconut smell. For a deeper cleanse I use the Clinique Clear Skin cleansing brush, as I still have to worry about pesky breakouts at this age…sigh. Then to give a glow I’ve been using the Glow Baby face scrub about twice a week in the morning or night. And for a weekly refresh to my skin, I’ve been using the Future Youth enzyme mask, that works like a resurfacing mask, that I have found gentle enough to not irritate my skin, but still effective enough to get a nice glow.
In addition to the “glow squad”, I also started taking marine collagen on a daily basis. I’ve been using Vida Glow, but there are lots of other brands out there. Findings are showing that taking marine collagen can provide benefits such as preventing or repairing damage caused by exterior environmental factors such as UV, low humidity or even damages of aging. In short it can help promote healthier skin, hair and nails. This goes along with my quest for cleaner eating and being more thoughtful about what I put into my body. I’m only about a week in, so I’ll let you know how it’s going in about a month!
