Sadly my bestie Aviatrix is leaving me to move back to the Okanagan, where we met and grew up together over 18 years ago. However I’m happy for her move because I know what it means for her and her family which ultimately is more happiness and as much as I am sad to see her go, how would you not want anything but that for someone? In between house shopping she sent me this post that I wanted to share, and begs the question, “Where is your heart at home, and your soul find sanctuary”?
“I went home this weekend, and when I say home I don’t mean my house, I mean the place where my heart feels whole. For me it’s in the Okanagan. When I make my way back to my childhood roots, I find myself drawn to the simple pleasures in life, for me that is nature and family. My father and I hiked to Cousins Bay and basked in the heat and cooled off in the turquoise waters of Kalamalka Lake (Kalamalka means “Lake of many colours”). Kalamalka Park epitomizes my childhood and holds all of my deepest and most cherished memories of growing up.
The next day we hiked to BX Falls, an eco-system that is densely forested, lush with greenery in an area generally known for being arid. The falls has a powerful, spiritual energy that has soothed and touched my sometimes broken soul. It is truly my therapy being in the presence of such a beautiful place. I look forward to the future when the place I call home is also the place where my house is.”

Isn’t it! The only good thing about her moving back is I have a place to stay when I go visit for wine tours 🙂
