A little while ago I got a note from Kathryn of Midwest Farm Girl, informing me that she had nominated Cashmere & Camo for the Leibster Award. The point of the award is for bloggers to build a larger social community while sharing with others a little bit more of who you are. In turn you get to nominate other bloggers and “pay it forward” in a sense by asking 11 random interview questions. It also let me know more about Kathryn who is in agriculture public relations and her blog (and I have to say I’m a little jealous about that back flip dismount move she can do off her horse…). So Kathryn, finally to answer your questions here we go:
1) What type of things inspire you?
A: The type of things that inspire me are part of the everyday, from books, music, a great photo or quote. I have a journal that I just collect quotes in, when I find one I like I jot it down. I’ve been doing this since high school.
2) If you could be on any television show, which one would it be and why?
I’d probably pick the Amazing Race, you get to go to so many cool spots and the challenges always look like fun, however the only person I’d pick for my team is my brother. He’s well-travelled and competitive like myself. Since he’s my bro we could have a big fight over getting on the wrong plane and still be friends later!
3) What is your most embarrassing moment?
Well I’ve always wanted to hunt turkeys, coming from a place where they’re scarce it always seemed like a fun hunt with my bow. So I was really excited when my boyfriend booked a turkey hunt for my birthday in South Dakota. We took the week off and drove the 17 hours to the outfitters spot. The first morning out there were turkeys coming off the roost and down to our blind. I’d never hunting from a ground blind before so was a little flustered on how to draw my bow and not have the turkey see me. As I was drawing back on a nice Tom, my finger accidentally hit the release and my arrow misfired into the outfitters blind. With the turkey running away and my string of profanities on the camera and the sizeable hole in the blind left for a pretty mortifying moment.
4) What is your favourite food?
This is a hard one… I’d probably pick cheese, is that a food group? Well for now let’s say it is, I could eat cheese and crackers everyday, my family joked with me at one point that that’s all they thought I ever had in my fridge. My culinary tastes and abilities have expanded quite a bit since then though.
5) What are your hobbies?
Ummm, where to start. My hobbies consist of horseback riding, hunting, fishing, hiking and skiing in the winter. I also love cooking and baking in my downtime. I have a REALLY hard time sitting still haha.
6) If you could be an animal, what would you be?
Hands down a snow leopard, not sure why that’s just what came to mind as soon as I saw the question…
7) What is your favorite movie?
Legends of the Fall, BUT despite what you think I actually fell in love with the cinematography and the era the story took place and NOT Brad Pit, ok well maybe Brad helped a little…
8) What is your favorite Holiday and why?
Christmas! It’s always been a special time of year for me. From the decorations and the family traditions, I always look forward to it and wish it could last longer. Since my family is spread out across the country, it’s usually that one time a year we all get to see each other and connect.
9) If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you do?
Get the heck out of the city, buy a ranch a set up an amazing studio for writing and editing photos/video. Then I might have to do some travelling or train a team of sled dogs for the Iditarod (It’s always been a dream of mine…)
10) If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Western Canada, I love it here. We have amazing outdoor recreation and the four seasons, fall is my favourite time of year and I still like to see snow. I think if I moved away from that I’d miss it greatly.
11) If you could have one super power, what would it be?
Hmmm…. Well I know everyone would say flying but I’m going to choose the power to be invisible. I think it would come in pretty handy for a whole bunch of scenarios, especially when you just don’t want to be in that meeting any longer… Also known as the smoke bomb manoeuvre!
So those are my answers. I’d like to nominate the following blogs I love for the Leibster Award:
- If you could have ANY job/vocation in the world what would it be?
- What’s one of your guilty pleasures?
- If you were given 1 million dollars to donate to the charity of your choice what would it be?
- What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?
- Where do you feel most at home?
- What advice would you give to a second- grader?
- What are you a geek about?
- Camping or a hotel?
- What is your motto?
- Who is the craziest person in your life?
- What are you looking forward to in 2013?
My husband considers cheese a vegetable so he can justify the amount he eats! I agree I would totally pick Amazing Race, but I would have to win so I would have enough money to go back to all those cool locations.
That’s true, you would never have enough time to enjoy where you are at, it would just be a big blur…
I love it!!! I would have to agree with your superpower of being invisible; that would come in quite handy!!
