I have to admit I was a bit tentative leaving behind the fun boutiques of my neighborhood in the inner city to move out to an acreage. But it was through the powers of Instagram that someone posted about a little green house on 30 Elma Street, Brandy meet Mint + Maple. Tucked one block back off main street in old towne Okotoks, the shop is a quaint and charming place to stop and visit. Owner Natalie is a total sweetheart with killer fashion and decor sense. And I found her story completely inspiring, a Business Major who knew she one day wanted to open her own store, finally took the leap when she laid eyes on the little house at 30 Elma Street.
And her passion for her business shows through, I love when you walk in the chic but rustic styled little character home, you instantly feel a sense of warmth and know that lots of love and work have gone into every aspect of every detail in the store. And there is something for everyone, from kids clothing to home decor, if you are looking for a gift or just for yourself the price points are great. I have always loved that sense of finding something personal and unique when boutique shopping and I swear there is something new every time I visit. In fact my t-shirt game has had a complete overhaul since finding the store, as you may have noticed in prior posts.
And the one thing Mint + Maple has that my inner city boutiques didn’t, is small town charm. It’s easy to strike up a conversation with fellow shoppers while you sip on refreshments that Natalie offers the moment you step through the door. There is also a free library outside stocked with books and a patio to relax and enjoy, and if you follow on Instagram @mintmapleshop or Facebook Mint + Maple, keep watch for the occasion popup shop they do throughout the year or the new book club. I for one am so happy to see new and upcoming shops south of Calgary, it’s giving us gals more local options and helps #supportsmall and #supportlocal which I always love.

We are so lucky to have Natalie & the lovely Mint & Maple Boutique!
Isn’t she great? I love that she lets me play dress-up every time I go in 🙂
Looks like such a great shop! If I ever get down that way I will check it out! I love to shop local and do as much of that as I can in Cochrane. They have some great shops there too!
thanks for sharing!
Yes Cochrane does too!In fact I was trying to do a localist spotlight a few times a year, Cochrane and east of the city are on my radar as well! What’s your favorite store?
Lovely boutique, Natalie is awesome, always great to hear that fellow #Okotoks #boutiques are getting recognized.
