Wasn’t May such a beautiful month?! The weather was great for the most part, and it seemed like a whirlwind of trying and seeing new things, some that I can’t wait to share with you in this post! I decided to share my favourite things each month, because back in the winter, I found myself taking notes or writing things down each time I found something I got really jazzed over, or found myself using again and again. So if you guys like it, let me know and I’ll continue to share!
New Haircare Line I’m loving:
AG Hair has a new natural (98% plant based) line out and I’m loving it. One of my favorites is their Cloud Air Light Volumizing Mousse. I love BIG hair however hate when I use a volumizer and it seems to leave a tacky or stiff residue on my scalp- even with clean hair it doesn’t leave you feeling fresh. Cloud can be put on clean, damp hair before you either blow dry or air dry which I like because I try and avoid using a blow dryer in the summer as much as possible. Because it’s not heat activated, it will give you volume either way and the best part- it’s truly weightless, there’s no sticky residue and if anything your hair feels almost better on day two of using it. The best part it helps your hair, while using ingredients like: natural corn starch, tilia tomentosa bud extract, and sugar cane extract offer instant volume and texture while sweet almond, linseed, olive leaf and arnica extracts protect against heat, help prevent frizz, detangle, and enhance shine.
A Book That Takes the Taboo Out of Money Talk:
Talking about money is right up there with talking about sex- people simply don’t. I actually grabbed this one in the airport as I had heard great things about the author, Jen Sincero’s previous book “You are a Badass”. My initial reaction, honestly I was a little embarrassed holding a book with a bright green cover titled “You are a Badass at Making Money”, but as the author brings up- what’s the big deal about talking about money? If you really look at things- you probably have some hang-ups about money yourself, which is potentially preventing you from making more of it.
The Summer Dress That Will Be a Wardrobe Staple:
Give me a great linen piece for summer like pants or a dress and I’ll find it on heavy rotation in my wardrobe for that season. I love the simplicity of a button down dress like this with pockets! I think it’s perfect for a trip to the park, the farmers market or simply lounging at a BBQ. This midi style from Urban Outfitters comes in a variety of colours as well.
I tried an Organic Tan and Loved It:
Being fair, it’s honestly been a quest of mine to achieve the perfect sun kissed glow since I was a teen. However, after being more conscious about what I put on my skin (our body’s largest organs), I became reluctant to try a lot of these bronzers that may not have the best stuff in them. I’ve experimented with more “organic” bronzers in the past only to be disappointed with a streaky or orange hue that seemed to wear off in a day. I found Organic Tan in Okotoks– the best part they offer mobile as well as a studio space right down Main Street. The owner Britney is the sweetest and made sure I got the most out of my experience by custom mixing my tan and providing me with aftercare. The process takes longer to work because it’s natural and sugar based, but the results are amazing! I had so many compliments on my tan looking natural- not orange at all, not streaky and the best part- it lasted for longer than a week. Plus at $40 a session, it seems an affordable option to all the tanners and lotions I’ve bought in the past. Another plus, Sunna Tan was founded in Calgary back in 2011, so it’s great to know I’m supporting a Canadian company!
