I’m still pinching myself that we’re in April already, this year is whizzing by I tell you, whizzing by. This last weekend I found myself dreaming of warmer days ahead and my April goal list. It’s the start of a new month, a new quarter and there’s some exciting projects ahead. But it also got me thinking of some of my favourite things in March that I thought you might want to check out as well if you haven’t already heard about these things.
Podcast That Left The Biggest Impression:
Sharing my favourite podcasts- might be best left to a separate post, but spending so much time on the road these days, I’m usually listening to one. I frequently listen to The Lady Gang, and one that really caught my attention before was with guest speaker, hormone expert Candance Burch (Episode 122). She previously completed an overview on the Lady Gang (Episode #88 that I truly recommend listening to first before diving into the latest episode). But here Burch explains the complexities and often misunderstood world of hormone imbalances and how our modern world of synthetic drugs and artificial additives is not doing us any favours. It’s truly interesting and one that I think any woman or man would benefit from, as it’s something that’s highly effected in our current day to day life. However not something that western medicine necessarily prescribes to treating in an advanced or individualized manner. I urge you to check out her site as well and I’m still trying to find someone in Canada that specializes in this area so I’ll be sure to share when I do, or let me know if you have someone!
Workout App That’s Making Me Stay Consistent:
I haven’t yet announced on the blog- but I’ve partnered with Swimco this year! Who knew at 37, I’d be a swimsuit model?! So this has really kicked my behind into staying consistent with exercise, and eating cleaner. My goals for March were just to get back into a regular routine and stay consistent. I found I started using the Nike Training Club App that has over 100 workouts from beginner to expert level. I started at beginner and many of those are still challenging me. I try and mix them up with some cardio and I love that you can mix and match a couple short 15 minute segments together.
A Documentary That Makes Me Aspire To Live a Creative & Adventurous Life:
If you haven’t seen Iris Apfel’s documentary on Netflix– please, please take the time to watch it. The show simply named Iris- this 93 year old has more energy and zest for life than most of us do at half her age. Here we get to watch the fashion icon welcome us into her closets and see how crazy and diverse her collection is, her life and style has been a whirlwind of adventure and relationship with her husband Carl is the cutest and something that I’m sure most people would aspire to. She also offers some great perspective on style and aging that I think anyone would benefit from her advice.
Favourite New Denim For The Office:
Kimes Ranch has some of the best denim around and these Lola Trouser Jeans are exactly what I’ve been looking for in a denim to wear to the office and when I need to be city-chic. Plus it’s about the most amount of flare these short legs can handle!
An Organic Skincare that’s Scientifically Proven, Right Here in Canada!
For years I’ve loved clean or natural skincare products. Only problem is, once I did a bit of research found out that they either have synthetic derivatives or preservatives or hardly any lab time to determine the benefits of the product. I received a sample of Huna Apothecary’s Nourish Skin Nutritious Balm in my spring Simply Beautiful Box and loved it- especially on the top of my hands- which I feel are totally showing some wear in this dry winter weather. With all the ingredients grown on a farm in southern Manitoba, they are the first green beauty brand to partner with a Major University (University of Manitoba) for production and research. I highly recommend you check out their product line if you like natural skin care products!
