This spring has been hovering on the edge of blooms and blossoms for almost a month. I swear everytime I plan a spring outfit or try and get out into the yard it starts snowing once again! But if the historic weather patterns of May follow suit, hopefully greener, lusher days are on the horizon. This rainy Victoria Day weekend has given me plenty of time to organize and prioritize my wardrobe. Something I try and do on a quarterly basis.
I’ve noted my style trending further and further to a more neutral palette these days, giving way to my love of texture. With this I am excited to see the re-emergence of linen in mainstream fashion this spring and summer. There has always been something classy and unassumingly feminine about it. Maybe it’s just my memories to summertime as a kid. I remember my mom with her linen outfits and it always seemed more luxurious than a simple cotton top or dress.
Since last summer I’m been searching for the perfect button up midi dress. Something easy, breezy that could be worn throughout summer and easily thrown into a suitcase for a getaway. When I found this Positano beach dress through Canadian company Pink Martini it immediately checked all the boxes. I love the feminine cut that shows off your waist, the pockets and tortoise shell buttons with the subtle texture makes this a classic piece that I hope has many trips in it’s future.
It’s also a great travel piece and really doesn’t wrinkle that much when wearing it. Which is always a concern I have with linen- but it’s also part and parcel of the “look” of linen. Travel daydreams aside, right now I would settle for a picnic on the front lawn and soak in these beautiful fresh spring days as long as possible. Hope everyone is having a happy long weekend!
