This hot, dry summer definitely seems to have taken it’s toll on my skin and hair. Maybe it was all the smoke and gunk in the air from the forest fires, but towards the end of August, I started to feel my skin was parched beyond belief and my hair was starting to feel a little “crunchy” on the ends, just like the front lawn. Typically reserved for our harsh winters, my skin and hair really needed some assistance.
So at the recommendation of friends, I tried both the NeoStrata Hydrating & Plumping mask and the Evo Mane Prescription– protein treatment. Let me preface this by saying, I attempted other masks and hair treatments the last few weeks, but these two by far seemed to out perform the others that shall remain nameless.
First up- the NeoStrata sheet mask. I have now used this once a week for the past three weeks and noticed a huge help to my dried out skin, it definitely seems to add a plumping effect with the 0.15% hyaluronic acid and gives a nice smooth and renewed look after even one use. I defiantly will be using this one during the winter months coming up. For any one looking for this mask in Canada, I found it at Shoppers Drug Mart.
Next, the Mane Prescription by Evo. My hair has gone to super long lengths this summer and though I’m wondering what to do with it this fall/winter (more to come next week!) it definitely needed some hydration after a long, hot summer of abuse and styling. Now I only had a sample package of this to try, but I will definitely be buying some for a weekly treatment going into the fall and winter months. After 4 minutes post shampoo- my hair felt silky smooth and much healthier than it had been in months.
The hydration battle seems never ending if you live in Alberta, so I’m happy to share my findings for some more options to help us battle it out through the chillier months. I’m also looking into seasonal treatments (facials, masks, peels) that help rejuvenate the skin from season to season, so if anyone has any suggestions I’m all ears!
