Now that we are halfway through the coldest months in Canada are you planning a winter getaway? One of the most stressful decisions for most ladies is to find the “perfect” swim suit to fulfill all vacation fantasies, which includes looking great and feeling comfortable while having an amazing time at our beach or poolside escapes.
After spending most of my December living with swimsuits as my outfit of the day, I’ve been able to test drive some amazing choices from Swimco that I think are fantastic options if you are on the search before you fly away to warmer climates.
The Essentials Bikini
Seafolly Essentials Fixed Triangle Top in Chili
If you are headed to the pool or beach, a basic bikini is a must. I loved the high cut fit of this Seafolly suit as it turned out to be far more comfortable and flattering than other low waisted bikini bottoms I’ve tried in the past. Also, I like to ensure I take my bathing suits through the paces and this one stayed put and required minimal adjustment in and around the pool or beach. The great thing about this suit is it comes in a number of colours and has mix and match bottoms and tops so you can pick your perfect bikini!
Essentials High Cut Bottoms and Bandeau Top in Blue Bolt
The Functional & Fashionable One-Piece
Whether you are headed to a beach or pool vacation, especially with young kids, a one-piece is a must. Gone are the days of just the “speedo” one piece, there are so many options out there that are stylish, flattering and still functional. I loved the retro vibes of this Inara- Twist Front suit. The bottoms and cutout feature on top compliment a curvier figure and give the “feel” of being in a two-piece. Plus I was able to build sandcastles and cartwheel away on the beach without any wardrobe malfunctions happening.

Surf & Paddle Suits
If you love water sports or just hours in-between the waves and the beach, a surf or paddle suit is ideal for keeping you sun safe and comfortable. After many years of surfing with a rash guard, I love how these suits stay in place and no sunburn after playing around in the waves for a couple hours. I love the open back of this floral Billabong Suit. However there are so many other fun, flattering options. I definitely think it’s worth considering one of these for vacay or some time at the lake in the summer.
The Sexy One-Piece
Billabong Summer High Leg One Piece
As I mentioned before gone are the days of the “headed off to swim laps” Speedo one piece that we all came to know and dread. One-pieces have changed for the bolder, more daring and sexier options we know today. Honestly I lean towards a one-piece most of the time as I feel it’s more flattering and comfortable than my bikini’s. I loved the waffle knit material of this high-leg suit my SIL wore. Also, a lesson I have learned. Don’t be afraid of going cheeky. It’s more flattering and helps accentuate your “assets” versus what many of us think which is “hiding” with full coverage. As a full bottomed gal I can attest there is no hiding girlfriends. If anything it makes things appear larger or even worse saggier. So be reckless and embrace the cheeky!
The Statement Bikini
Animal print is huge this year and what better way to embrace your wild side with a little leopard or snakeprint? Even though I could give a lick about showing off my scar poolside at this point, I love the high-waisted, retro vibe bottoms of this suit that hits on my torso just right, almost helping create more of any hour glass illusion. The underwire top is also amazing if you have a larger bust and keeps everything in place. This suit was a statement in itself at the pool!
