I’m back! Unfortunately the mundane details of life and the rigours of a new job in the last few weeks have gotten the best of my creative spirit. I’m simply in the grind trying to get it done. But with the grind there is always a breath fresh air that comes around and this post is to do nothing more than report on the fun I am having at the Happiest Place on Earth!
Yes we are in Orlando for a 50th wedding anniversary and 75th birthday celebration. To encompass that we are completing a weeklong bootcamp at Mickey’s house. The theme park du jour is Animal Kingdom. By noon I had completed an African safari complete with rhino, elephant, crocodile and lion sitings, after which Gary was insistent we should be supplied with paint-ball guns to make the safari more “realistic”. Then off to a Nepalese market and a river rafting ride that leaves you soaking wet. Which I was grateful for as by mid-afternoon my park experience was similar to being in the world’s busiest Costco-where they lock the doors, crank the heat to 40 degrees and only sell corn-dogs, ice-cream and loads of hideous Disney paraphernalia- oh and instead of shopping carts there is stroller parking lots…
The grand finale was a dinosaur ride that fantastically lifelike and scary to most of the kids, followed by us having to purchase an $8 smoked turkey leg, because Gary insisted “all the guys were doing it”. With a glass of wine by the pool, surveying my sore and swollen feet I prepare myself for tomorrow adventure.
