Keeping with the spirit of my resolutions and the blog I have something to confess… my New Years fitness/health plan was derailed today. Yes, I realized that it is only Jan 7th, but I’ve had my head in the game since Dec 30th so it’s been well over a week that I’ve been on my fitness path! The charge pending you wonder? It was lunch, I was craving something… and the next thing you know I had finished off a teen burger, onion rings and a root beer.
So next thought is that I have to redeem myself somehow and be really “good” for the next little while. How can I punish myself? The thought is to give up my morning coffee and Baileys (except potentially on the weekends and National holidays) and try something a little more healthy. So I came up with the following recipe for a morning protein shake that still gives me a kick start:
- 1 scoop Chocolate Protein Mix (I like the Iso-Femme as it has Non-Estrogenic Proteins in it- good for the ladies prone to mood swings)
- 1 tsp instant expresso powder
- 1/3 cup frozen or fresh strawberries and/or mixed berries (Bananas could also be used for those who don’t find them revolting)
- 3/4 cup skim milk
- 2 tbsp Greek style Yogurt
- 1 tbsp Greens Mix
- 1/2 tsp liquid honey
Believe me it’s quick to make, keeps you from caffeine withdrawal and hopefully will prevent any more offences from happening when it’s not considered a “cheat” day.
