Plaid Shirt- here | Studded Booties- here | Shearling Vest- Similar here | Trouser Jeans- here
Even as I sit here writing this blog post, I can’t believe it, “March is that you”?!! I always find the first few months of the year to be those where I sit back and take stock of life and my closet. I don’t partake in the numerous winter and clearance sales, truth be known after seeing sweater after sweater- I quickly become uninspired. So I find that transitioning from winter to spring can also be a tricky process in the land of chinooks. It goes from being cold. To hot. Back to cold and then maybe lukewarm. The weather can yo-yo like a bad relationship for the better part of a couple months and you need to be prepared for whatever the day throws at you.
Some of my favourite pieces to help transition from this season to the next are plaids, a classic vest and some tailored trouser jeans. I find year after year I’m reaching for these pieces and would highly suggest to make sure you invest in the highest quality if you’re thinking of purchasing any of these items. I had bought this real shearling vest about 7 years back at Eddie Bauer. At the time it felt like a crazy splurge, but it honestly has been one of the most classic pieces in my fall/winter wardrobe. I picture myself bringing this out 20 years down the road. A plaid shirt can take you through any season in Calgary as I typically interchange it for a jacket over a tank on warmer days. And the trouser jeans? A classic that never goes out of style in my opinion, and with the general workplace becoming more relaxed on dress code, you can even switch these into your workwear wardrobe. The one thing I recommend- keep your eye peeled on these end of season sales for those quality/classic items, they’re harder to find but all the sweeter when you finally do and they’re 60% off!!
