We just returned from our tour of New South Wales area on the east coast of Australia. Although I’ve been to the area previously, we visited some new locations including the first of our three part leg-the well known surf mecca of Byron Bay. As you drive into the quaint, coastal town the slogan greets you, Cheer Up-Slow Down- Chill Out. Which is exactly what this little bohemian town does. Here I wanted to share some the things we did and recommendations if you plan on visiting Byron yourself.
Elements of Byron Bay
Arriving at the beautiful- Elements of Byron Bay. A luxury eco-friendly resort designed to blend into the surrounding nature. The rooms are contemporary looking, self contained villas that meander through the resort, complete with indoor and outdoor living space, ensuite bathrooms and full kitchen.
The resort facilities include a heated lagoon pool with a fire pit for nighttime lounging. The Osprey Spa where I was so lucky to indulge in an amazing massage. The Beach Club with beautiful views of the ocean and Byron Bay with beach loungers complete with the cutest beach bar. It was the perfect spot for an afternoon cocktail and a good book.
I also was able to take in yoga at the resort’s lookout of Belongil Beach and then meander on one of the many walking trails through the forest back to our villa in the morning’s. Afternoon’s you could find yourself indulging in Mexican food and cocktails at the Adult’s Exclusive Pool.
Take the E-Train
From Elements of Byron we could walk to the platform of the world’s first solar powered train and take the ride into Byron Bay to wander the cute little surf town, shop or dine out.

Shopping Australian Fashion
The beachscape surrounding Byron has inspired many fashion labels that are well known around the globe today. Casual boho chic labels like Spell & the Gypsy, Kivari and Arnhem and Mister Zimi dot the busy streets. The style is relaxed, cool, comfortable and reflective of the town’s famous laid-back attitude. Contemporary twists on vintage styles, bright prints, earthy tones and natural materials pervade many of the local designs.

Cape Byron Lighthouse
The lighthouse at Cape Byron sits on the most easterly point of Australia and is definitely worth a visit especially at sunrise or sunset! The vista’s looking over the bay and heading to look out east to the endless stretch of blue ocean were beautiful. There is also a great walking track to walk out to the point and check out the park further.
Visit The Farm
The area surrounding Byron Bay has rich agricultural roots with rolling farms spread out as you leave the beach and head inland. A visit to The Farm- a community co-op that is a working farm with the aim to Grow. Feed. Educate. You can take in a lunch at the Three Blue Ducks restaurant, shop for fresh produce or bread, visit the in-house nursery and wander around and visit all the farm animals and learn about sustainable and ethical farming practices. I highly suggest taking a break from the beach for a trip to The Farm.
Places to Eat
The main streets of Byron are filled with a variety of restaurants and pubs. From sushi to burgers, you can find pretty much anything your heart desires. My favourite spots included, Combi for a great breakfast- all organic, they had amazing coffee and breakfast bowls. For a lunch or quick snack, Temakiya was delicious. We enjoyed dinner at The Mez Club, a Mediterranean dining experience with a light airy beach vibes throughout.

Honestly there seemed like so many amazing options that I missed. We were only in Byron for four days and I feel there were so many nooks and crannies to discover, not to mention surf! Byron, you are on my list to visit again!
