It has taken me many months to determine what type of decor features I add to the house, to give it the “feel” I’m going for. I struggled with elements of farmhouse and industrial not wanting to take it too far down one path. But one thing I kept coming back to was the craftsman style feel of the home, I knew I wanted to incorporate western decor touches here and there without making it feel to ktichy or vintage. I also wanted to celebrate the local history of ranching within the area and have parts of the home take on that “cowboy trail” persona.
So I rounded out some of my favorite design inspirations for adding western decor to your home. In places where it has more of modern theme, just adding abstract paintings or photography with western influence and textures can set a juxtaposition and add depth in a room. I also like the idea of shadow boxes to display items such as vintage chaps, or branding irons as a piece of art. An random cowboy hat wall can add a feature wall to any room. And horseshoe accessories and cow skulls always add a dash of western flavor to your decor, even if you want to keep it more modern than rustic.
