If you find yourself attending a destination wedding, it can be a bit of a grey area on what to wear. Often it’s difficult to know whether a beach wedding means a casual, laid back event where the bride strolls through barefoot and the groom in shorts or if there will be a full ball gown and suit on the sand. After being to a few of these, I’ve determined a few key elements apply:
1) Comfort– If you are waiting, standing or sitting in humid and hot conditions my guess is you want to be as unrestricted as possible and so I steer towards flowy pieces that can transition through day and night. This applies to your footwear as well, sky high heels are fun but not great for 4×4’ing through the sand.
2) Wrinkles– Depending on how far and long your wardrobe is squished in a suitcase, chances are there may be limited uses of irons, steamers or applicable outlets available. I always pick pieces that can be rolled up and come out of the suitcase virtually wrinkle free. Jersey is a great fabric for this and usually meets the comfort factor as well.
3) Go Bright! I say go bright and cheery! Stay away from the LBD (too stuffy) and stay away from white (DUH). With the scenery in the backdrop, any photos for yourself or the wedding party will be vibrant and fun, just like a beach wedding should!
Glad you’re back! You’re wedding outfit was lovely. Sounds like you had a fun trip- can’t wait to hear more about it!
Thanks so much!! It was a wonderful trip and I can’t wait to go back because there is too much country to explore!
