Well winter seems like it’s finally here and just in time to welcome my brother and sister in-law from their balmy home in Australia. Suffice to say, they’ve been checking in on the weather and texting me some “concerns/expletives” about their holiday plans in the snowy north…. and then it hit me, they’d really love a blog post on winter layering and some tips on how to avoid looking like the abominable snowman, as I’m sure they’ve forgotten how to dress for -100 after spending years frolicking on beaches and such 😉
I think the key is breathable layers, you don’t need a floor length parka on to stay warm, and who can afford to waste precious luggage space packing that?
For the 1st layer, Stream Line Your Base. Add a long sleeved tee over skinny pants or leggings for a sleek base, I’m in love with these faux suede leggings to add a hint of texture and warm to my wardrobe.
Warm Feet, Warm Heart? Or something like that… I always find the proper socks and a pair of great insulated boot makes sure my feet stay toasty and comfy.
Pile on a Sumptuous Sweater, natural fabrics like merino wool and cashmere can be still be form fitting and soft becasue honestly there’s nothing worse than an itchy sweater.
Top off with a cool jacket- something bright or with a fun print is always eye-catching in the snow.
Add some stand-out accessories, over the years I have collected some great cold weather pieces, this fur hand muff is great to add some luxury to any outfit and a graphic hat is a fun add for a festive holiday look.
But sometimes there’s nothing better than a good old fashioned bundling, so don’t worry guys-we’ll be standing at the airport waiting to throw you into down sleeping bags the moment you arrive and get you acclimated properly 🙂
