Just Call Me Quick Draw

I know I promised to share what happened on my first turkey hunt in South Dakota this April, I’ve just been working up the courage to do so. After being on my bucket list for awhile, I was excited; ok maybe a bit too excited because as you can see from the video, this Tom had nothing to worry about that first day! In a nutshell I had never experienced hunting in a ground blind with my bow before and the question kept echoing in my head, “Which way am I going to draw my bow and make as little movement as possible?”  Turns out the strategy I had pre-planned, didn’t work as I accidentally hit my release when I was drawing back, putting an exceptional hole in the blind. With G2 laughing at me, I was MORTIFIED. I’m almost certain that an American Idol finalist going on stage and forgetting the words to a song would probably have felt the way I did at that moment, I BLEW IT! But with every successful day of hunting there are bound to be a few flub ups, hopefully I got it out of my system for the year 🙂

P.S. I’m going to also blame the men’s sized gloves I had on that morning, I SWEAR they caused some extra slippage on that darn release!
