Chartreuse… not just for fly tying

I first became introduced to the color chartreuse when I was buying flies for salmon fishing. Apparently for some species it is a colour of choice. What exactly is it you ask? Chartreuse  is a color halfway between yellow and green that was named because of its resemblance to the color of one of the French liqueurs called green chartreuse.

This is called a grizzly bugger

But low and behold I’m taking fashion advice from my fishing gear, because chartreuse is become a popular number this spring. Bright and not quite yellow or green it mixes some fun into your wardrobe. You don’t have to do a full piece either, start small with an accessory. I’m especially liking it today when it’s dreary out because I’m imagining a colorful dress in a warm tropical place while sipping on a pina colada.
