Drumming Up Romance

For Christmas, G2’s parents gave us a wonderful gift of a night out to a luxe restaurant in the city. Mama G2’s main requirement was that we have a “romantic” time. Staring at my fuzzy moccasins, yoga pant and camo hoodie outfit that I have on, the realization hits me that I may need to look for some outfit inspiration to add to the Va Va Voom for date night.

But this brings up the next question, really is there a standard for romance? Don’t get me wrong a great dinner and a night out is amazing, but as G2 mentioned before he finds a day of fly fishing or a hike out in the mountains just as romantic as candlelight and flowers. Thinking about it I can’t say I disagree with him. However, variety is the spice of life and for this city date and I’ve drawn this inspiration to help me feel my inner goddess. Which we all know when we feel good, we look great 🙂

Maybe some short and sweet neutrals....

Some girly glitter and glam....

A sexy sweater dress with boots for a cold night...

Or a little more country and casual…

That’s a great idea. I had a friend who gave us the same thing one time because the previous ‘date’ my husband and I went on, we ended up doing errands, buying groceries, and eating off of plastic trays in the mall…

These are all beautiful. Spool 72 has some sweet dresses too. Last I looked there was a really pretty lace one that might do the trick! Have fun on your date!

Thanks for the suggestion! I love Spool 72 stuff, they have some cute dresses. I think when you have time, it’s easy to turn quality time into errands and day to day work.

I love them all! But outfit number 3 is my fave and I’d wear it to Pulcinellas for pizza… or the Keg at Stadium Center…or Red Water Grill at Stadium Center…or NOtaBLE in Bowness…or Osteria de Medici in Kensington for lunch…or…oh I know your post is about the clothes, but all that talk of dining out reminded me of all my old favorite eateries in your town. Lol! Have a great dinner girl!

What is your fav in Calgary Suzie? In my ex life (different job) I was out for corporate dinners all the time, it’s different to be able to dress up how you want and go out, I don’t take it for granted anymore!

Hmmm. Well it depends…for casual and the best pizza I’ve eaten in Canada (plus an amazing wine list) it’s Pulcinella’s. For fine dining and the best Italian I’ve eaten in on this side of the pond it’s definitely Osteria de Medici in Kensington. It’s extremely pricey, but my favorite thing to do there is ask if the chef can prep a meal of his faves and to make sure the evening is long and slow. I’ve never been disappointed, but I will warn again that this is not an inexpensive request. To sample some of their food at a less expensive price point, Osteria also makes a great place to stop for lunch when shopping in Kensington.
