This year when down in Montana, we found an Idylwilde fish ruler for our boat that we couldn’t pass up. The top of the ruler says, “How Badass Are You?”, and proceeds to list individuals such as Yanni, John Denver, Christopher Walken, Charles Bronson, Brian O’Keefe and Steve McQueen as the measurement demarcations increase to 26 inches. Meaning a Yanni is not the fish you want to haul into the boat…
It’s been a rough go on the rivers up here, with a late spring and high runoff the rivers are still high and dirty in many parts. I wish I had a big brown trout to show in this picture but at least this little rainbow, that I caught on a Stonefly nymph is not a Yanni…

How funny! I’ve been following your stories and posts only lately when I saw some awesome boots that I was eyeing. Today when I read about a fish ruler I was very shocked – my husband has patented a fish ruler and it is made out of Lexan (bullet-proof polycarbonate) but it is portable with a hole at each end to mount if you want. Great looking fish. Much different world fishing out west compared to New England!
